What Is 4EverBold?
4EverBold is an arts-based award program that celebrates the courage, confidence,
strength, and resilience of young consumers of home parenteral
nutrition. With the support of the Oley Foundation and Baxter, in 2021 the
4EverBold program provided unique and meaningful engagement
opportunities for the Oley Foundation’s home parenteral nutrition
consumers through a comic strip contest.
The comic strip contest was open to home parenteral nutrition consumers of the Oley Foundation, ages 7 through 25.
Consumers were challenged to draw upon their personal experiences with
the creation of a comic strip, illustrating who they are and what they
do in the bold pursuit of an independent life.

Author and Illustrator
Hey, I’m Ira. I’m a cartoonist living in Upstate New York with my wife, two cats, a dog, and lots of books I’ve been meaning to read. My love for ancient magic and possible futures has led me to work with the European Research Council
to speculate on future-tech and create a warehouse of esoteric objects for the Hugo Award Winning magazine, Weird Tales. My proudest moment was when Understanding Comics author Scott McCloud wrote a thoughtful blog
post about my work. Currently, I teach around 2,500 students a month on Skillshare and my new graphic novel SHARK SUMMER is available from Little, Brown Books.
