Main Sessions, Breakout Sessions & Tube Feeding Workshop—Learning Opportunities Abound!

Presentations are coordinated to boost your understanding of the therapies that sustain you or your loved one. Formal morning sessions are followed by informal afternoon breakout sessions, the interactive Tube Feeding Workshop, and pediatric-focused sessions in the Family Friendly Room. See the Program-At-A-Glance (below) for a tentative list of topics to be covered.

Family Friendly Room

Main session presentations will be projected into a relaxed, family friendly room in the morning. In the afternoon, panel sessions will be held with topics specific to pediatric care and parenting issues. Children will stay with or close to their parents and other children. Activities/entertainment will be planned in the foyer (just outside of the Family Room) and volunteers will be available to help occupy the children. Comfort stations will be available in the rear of the room.

Special arrangements can be made for a parent to attend the Tube Feeding Workshop, or a different, specific breakout session if desired. Parents are encouraged to split up and attend different sessions so they return home with as much information as possible.

Ambassador Workshop/Volunteer Info Session

Planned for “official” Oley volunteers, but open to anyone interested in serving Oley through outreach, social networking, etc. Learn how to share your time and talents to advance the Oley mission. For more information  contact Lisa at metzgel@mail.amc.edu. RSVP when registering.

Jammin’ Jammies

A chaperoned activity is planned for children ages 7+ on Friday evening! Children/youth must be registered online by June 23 to participate in these activities. If you don’t have access to the Internet, call to register your child/youth.

Walkathon Raises Funds, Awareness

Gather sponsors and join us for a short walk. Click here for a form.

Breakfast and Brainstorming—Bring Your Questions

Join Oley for Breakfast and Brainstorming—the conference closing session. Experienced professionals and consumers will be on hand to share their expertise and wisdom. We expect this to be informative and interactive with plenty of opportunity to address a nagging doubt, or clarify something you heard in a session. Updates will be posted online as the experts are confirmed. Upon the conclusion of this special event, we’ll capture photos and bid our farewells.

Market Research

Share your experience with tube feeding and/or IV nutrition to help improve the next generation of products. Indicate your interest on the registration form, and be sure your membership profile on www.oley.org is up-to-date! We determine who is eligible based on the information you’ve provided. Contact Cathy Harrington at (518) 262-5079 or harrinc@mail.amc.edu if you have questions about updating your profile. Opportunities for market research are limited and available to qualified participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

Silent Auction Items Needed

Let’s make this event the best ever! Popular items include: small electronics; jewelry; hand knit or quilted pieces; games/toys; and gift certificates. Bring your contributions with you or contact Cathy at harrinc@mail.amc.edu or (518) 262-5079 to make arrangements to ship.

Travel Grants for Conference Attendees!

Thanks to generous donors there are several $600 travel scholarships available for consumers or a family member who cares for them. Priority will be given to applicants who will be attending the Oley annual conference for the first time, and Oley Ambassadors.

Qualified conference registrants should write two paragraphs describing how they believe attending the conference will affect their life and submit them to harrinc@mail.amc.edu or The Oley Foundation, 43 New Scotland Ave., MC-28, Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY 12208. The ideal candidate will also describe their plans to share information learned at the conference with consumers and/or clinicians back home.

Later, if there are travel grants still available, we will consider applications from consumers and caregivers who have attended a conference before. You can be placed on this waiting list by submitting your paragraphs as outlined above. Please indicate (in the subject line, if sent by email), that you’d like to be placed on the list.

Applicants should not be receiving any other financial assistance for travel and/or lodging expenses related to attending the conference. Travel grants are limited to one per family/household. Travel must be completed and receipts received by Oley before reimbursement can be made.
