The Oley Challenge
The Oley Foundation has always been blessed with the help of dedicated, talented volunteers. Past members of the board and Regional Coordinator network have truly formed the backbone of Oley and we are grateful to them. We are now experiencing a significant retirement of board members, and it is time to bring new blood aboard.
Board members have the opportunity to formulate policy and plan the future of Oley; however, their chief function is to keep the operation afloat financially - a very difficult task and always a challenge. There are two face-to-face board meetings each year, as well as two telephone conferences. Board members are expected to participate in at least three of these, and to pay for their own travel expenses. A successful board requires a balance of consumers, clinicians and people with financial and/or not-for-profit expertise. Currently our greatest need is for people in the latter category: people who know about money and non-profit organizations, who can help us bring funds to Oley, and who can show us how us to make every penny stretch.
