- Meet Consumers/Patients
|Newsletters: Travel Alert!|
Because new travel restrictions prohibit bringing fluids on airplanes, HPEN consumers will need to do extra planning before hopping on their next flight. First, be sure you have a letter from your physician that states
If you will be feeding onboard, the letter should indicate your need for calories or hydration in-flight.
Whenever possible, contact security at the airport ahead of time to get prior approval to carry your supplies on board. You may need to make special arrangements with your airline as well.
Be prepared to take a longer time than normal to get through security. Be prepared to show your equipment/supplies, and possibly your catheter site.
Last, but not least, come prepared with patience and a sense of humor. Airline security is a hassle, but it is in place to get you and fellow passengers safely to your destination.
