State-by-State Insurance Information

The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) has developed a terrific new resource for people who wish to purchase insurance, or have questions about private health insurance (whether it is employer-based or an individual plan).

The web page offers information on how to contact your state’s Department of Insurance and Consumer Assistance Program, both of which are excellent resources for any questions you may have regarding your health insurance plan, or buying a new plan altogether. The webpage also contains information on your state’s health insurance marketplace. Included are your marketplace’s contact information, your certified patient navigators, and your essential health benefits that must be included in all plans offered under your marketplace. Also included are outside resources on your state’s marketplace.

Enrollment in the state marketplaces starts on October 1st as part of the Affordable Care Act. NORD advises you to check back on their webpage often, as new information will be added regularly.
