Need Help Transitioning Your Child to Oral Feedings?

The Pediatric Center for Dysphagia and Feeding Management at Children’s Seashore House evaluates and treats children with feeding problems that have interfered with a child’s growth, health, nutrition or development.

Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Center can help children who have problems initiating or reinitiating oral feedings after enteral or parenteral feedings. They also treat children with feeding problems of:

  • oral/motor dysfunction
  • dysphagia
  • vomiting
  • total or partial food refusal
  • failure to thrive
  • failure to advance texture
  • over selectivity of food or liquid

The Center uses a comprehensive team approach to solving feeding problems that incorporates professionals from four core disciplines: developmental pediatrics, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology and pediatric psychology. The team also works closely with the child’s parents so they can learn how to understand and manage their child’s feeding difficulty.

The Center boasts of an overall success rate of 90 percent and advises that the younger the child is treated, the better their chances are for successful outcomes.
