Oley Profile - Roy George

An outgoing and gifted performance artist, 17-year-old Roy GeorgeThiemann has been on IV feedings and sometimes tube feedings since birth, due to Hirschsprung's Disease.

Roy is entering his senior year at Faith Heritage School, a local Christian school that he has attended since Pre-K. After he graduates, Roy plans to go to college to study musical theater with a minor in education.

Roy plays the piano, sings, dances and acts with several theater groups in our area. He is employed by the Syracuse Children's Theater where he teaches classes to children of all ages, as well as attending his own theater classes and performing in musical theater productions. He was also hired to play the score for a local high school’s musical.

Roy ministers at church with piano and song, as well, and participates in an outreach program at an intercity elementary school with the children's theater. Believe it or not, he works at the local grocery store too!

Roy’s family has been involved with the Oley Foundation since he was about 6 years old. “It has been a wonderful affiliation, providing our family with friendships, support and valuable information. It has also been great traveling to the annual conferences and reuniting with ‘family’ in interesting parts of the country.”

Roy and Alicia (pictured with him) met at the first Oley conference he attended and they have continued to be great buddies and inspiration to each other.
